Reviewing planned operations for bones and joints

North London Partners in Health and Care are currently reviewing the way in which planned operations for bones and joints, such as hip and knee replacements, are delivered.

NHS commissioners across Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey and Islington are working to answer a question whether it is a good idea to reduce the number of hospitals providing planned operations for bones and joints, such as hip and knee replacements.

The appraisal aims to:
• eliminate the differences in quality
• improve patient experience and
• ensure value for money

This report summarises the findings.
