Public Voice’s Impact Report shows people powered change is improving services and reducing inequality across London
The Impact Report from Public Voice, which runs and manages Healthwatch Haringey, highlights how the resident voice, co-production and community partnerships are delivering measurable improvements across health, social care, housing and wider public services.
This reflects the importance of Healthwatch Haringey as an independent voice that people living and working in Haringey can turn to for information, signposting, and to share their experiences of care with us to help partners such as our NHS and Council service providers, plan and shape local health and care services based on your insights and lived experiences.
In a period marked by uncertainty and rising demand, Healthwatch Haringey and Public Voice have stayed focused on what matters most – amplifying the voice of our local communities, prioritising collaboration and improving services through co-production, creativity and care.
Working alongside commissioners and community partners, Public Voice have supported meaningful improvements through a number of different workstreams, including delivering your local Healthwatch. The report shows how Public Voice translates our local community insights into evidence that drives measurable improvement across London.
Over the last year, Public Voice have:
- Facilitated 2,000+ residents shaping public services in their local areas
- Supported over 7,000 residents with health, wellbeing or financial guidance
- Improved 18 different services as a direct result of community insight
- Published 11 reports recommending improvements to health and social care services and commissioning
- Worked alongside and supported more than 750 grassroots voluntary and community organisations
- Helped community groups secure over £6 million in grant funding
- Supported residents to remove financial barriers and access vital services, including securing over £350,000 in reimbursements and debt resolution through partnership work
- Provided holistic support to 100 residents living with cancer
Alongside direct outcomes for residents, Public Voice has supported commissioners and service providers to embed co-production, strengthening long term service design and improving trust between communities and institutions.
The report also demonstrates the value of investing in community infrastructure and local capacity. By supporting grassroots organisations and community leaders, Public Voice helps ensure public services reach the people who need them most, including communities that are often underrepresented in traditional engagement.
Public Voice’s work has contributed to improvements in access, service experience and outcomes across multiple sectors. This includes removing barriers to care, improving communication, and ensuring services are designed around real-life needs.
Healthwatch Haringey and Public Voice see:
A national opportunity for people powered public services
We are calling for greater recognition of community voice as a core part of effective public service delivery and commissioning.
We believe that meaningful engagement and co-production:
- Improves service outcomes
- Reduces waste and ineffective commissioning
- Builds trust between communities and public bodies
- Supports earlier intervention and prevention
As demand on public services continues to grow, the report highlights the opportunity for national government, funders and commissioners to embed residents’ voices into central decision making.
“This report shows what is possible when services are designed with people. Behind every data point is a person, and behind every service improvement is a community voice. Investing in community insight and co production is not only the right thing to do, it’s essential to building effective, sustainable public services.”
