Changes to North Central London patient transport services

The NHS in North Central London will return to using the standard pre-pandemic national eligibility criteria for Non-emergency Patient Transport. This change particularly affects those identified as clinically extremely vulnerable.
NHS Patient Transport

As part of the North Central London (NCL) COVID-19 response North Central London Clinincal Commissioning Group (NCL CCG) have been following NHS England’s national guidance for the non-emergency patient transport service (NEPTS) to support patients who were identified as clinically extremely vulnerable.

As the shielding programme has now ended and patients advised to follow the same COVID-19 precautions as the rest of the population, the NHS in North Central London will return to using the standard pre-pandemic national eligibility criteria for NEPTS.

This means that adults who were identified as clinically extremely vulnerable and who had been shielding, will no longer be eligible for NEPTS unless they meet the standard national eligibility criteria.

For those patients who have an existing booking for non-emergency patient transport to hospital, this will go ahead as planned. No existing appointments will be cancelled.
