During April and May 2019 we spoke to 113 local residents about their experiences of health and care services and what they thought about potential future developments detailed in the NHS Long Term Plan.

We carried out a survey and also ran a focus group with people living with Type 2 diabetes to talk about the future of diabetes support. The people we spoke to said that their priorities are:

  • Making it quicker and easier to access health services.
  • Recruiting more NHS staff.
  • Using NHS funding more efficiently, including more joint working and shared IT systems.
  • Making it easier for people to manage their own health conditions with good information, but help on hand from medical staff when needed.

We worked closely with neighbouring Healthwatch in Camden, Islington, Barnet and Enfield as our five boroughs will be working together at North Central London level in future. 71% of people surveyed in North Central London think waiting times should be cut for GP appointments and there should be more community-based support.

We will continue to be involved in the future of NHS and care services at North Central London level, as well as locally here in Haringey, and to push for local residents to have a voice in decision-making.
