About this event
UK LGBTQ+ history month is February
The 2026 national theme for LGBTQ+ History Month is Science & Innovation and aims to highlight the contributions of LGBTQ+ scientists and innovators historically and today.
LGBTQ+ history month aims to promote tolerance and raise awareness of the prejudices faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.
This year it is the 40th Anniversary of the launch of the Haringey Lesbian and Gay unit. 2026 also marks 40 years since the Jenny Lives with Eric and Martin book was made available in Haringey Libraries and the beginning of the Smash the Backlash protests in Haringey.
Events taking place during LGBT+ History Month - and carrying on throughout the year include talks, screenings, workshops and performances, community gatherings, celebrations and educational programmes. You can find more information on Haringey Council's LGBTQ+ 365 website pages.
