Location: WMC - The Camden College, 44 Crowndale Road, NW1 1TR
This event builds on previous work done in partnership by local Healthwatch and North London Partners to explore people’s experience of ‘last phase of life’ services and to co-design community services that will be available 7 days a week. You can read reports on this work here: https://healthwatchcamden.co.uk/reports
It is in two parts. The morning session (11am to 12.45pm) is specifically for patients, carers and advocates to find out more about the plans to set up a 'Single Point of Access' for last phase of life services.
The afternoon session (1.30pm to 4.45pm) brings together patients, carers and advocates with service providers and service commissioners, to plan what should be included in the service specification for the Single Point of Access, and what people should be able to expect from the service. It will look at how this service integrates with other local services.
Who should come?
- Patient representatives (people living with long term and/or terminal conditions)
- Carer representatives (people with experience of last phase of life services, people caring for people with long term and/or terminal conditions)

28 Nov 2017 - Co-designing Community Services - Workshop
Date: 28 Nov 2017 - 10:00 to 15:30
Location: Arlington Centre, Arlington Road NW1 7HE
What’s it about?
This workshop will look at the best ways to develop community services across North London, so that they are available when you need them, including at weekends.
Why is it happening?
NHS organisations and local councils across North London want to help people stay out of hospital where possible. If you do need to be in hospital, they want you to get home as quickly and safely as possible. To do this, they must provide good, reliable community services to support you at home.
What will the workshop cover?
It will look at what happening now, based on the experience of current patients. It will look at what needs to be made better, what needs to be simpler, and what needs to be more joined up. It will explore your ideas on what new services might be needed, and where money could be saved by being more efficient.
What is ‘Co-design’?
Co-design is where people who use health and care services work with those who provide them, giving an equal voice to everyone. The workshop will give plenty of time to share experience and ideas. It will be run in a way that makes it easy for you to join in.
Who is running it?
The workshop is organised by local Healthwatch working together with the North London Partners in Health and Care.
Lunch will be provided.

01 Dec 2015 - World Aids Day 2015
Date: 01 Dec 2015 - 00:00 to 11:59
World AIDS Day is held on the 1st December each year and is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show their support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died. World AIDS Day was the first ever global health day, held for the first time in 1988.
Over 100,000 people are living with HIV in the UK. Globally there are an estimated 34 million people who have the virus. Despite the virus only being identified in 1984, more than 35 million people have died of HIV or AIDS, making it one of the most destructive pandemics in history.
Today, scientific advances have been made in HIV treatment, there are laws to protect people living with HIV and we understand so much more about the condition. Despite this, each year in the UK around 6,000 people are diagnosed with HIV, people do not know the facts about how to protect themselves and others, and stigma and discrimination remain a reality for many people living with the condition.
