GP Access in Tottenham Hale - Capacity Study
Posted on 17/10/2014
Our report raises serious concerns about the lack of GP services in the Tottenham Hale area and identifies a worrying borough wide GP access issue.
The report, “GP Access in Tottenham Hale”, highlights a serious access and capacity issue relating to the four GP Practices serving residents in the Tottenham Hale area. Set against the NHS benchmark of 72 appointments per thousand registered patients per week there is currently a local shortfall of between 230-420 (12-20%) appointments per week, or 18,000 appointments per year.
The detailed study also shows that compared to this national benchmark, there is a current short fall of at least 1,000 GP appointments per week in the north east of Haringey and a deficit of around 2,000 appointments per week in the borough as a whole. Haringey residents are poorly served compared to residents in Camden who benefit from 7,500 more GP appointments every week, or 390,000 more appointments per year.
